Sean Hyland Motorsports Adds a Supercharger to the 2011 Mustang ...
It’s not uncommon these days to go to your local Ford dealership, pop the hood on a Mustang, and find a factory installed Supercharger. In 2003 Ford released a Supercharged Cobra that earned itself the nickname ‘The Terminator’. When the Cobra rolled down the street, the whine from the Eaton Supercharger let everyone know who was boss. More recently, the Mustang Shelby GT500′s made use of these power adders to up their horsepower numbers into the mid 500′s. So when Ford released the new 5.0 liter Mustang without the option of a Supercharger from the factory, Sean Hyland Motorsports has decided to take matters into their own hands.
Hyland kit comes as a complete system. A cold air is used to help bring colder air into the air filter in broadband, which includes a horn in the air. From there, the air passes through an air flow meter 105 mm and a low restriction intake tube before entering the throttle body 80 mm. Prior to joining Eaton in the compressor, the air passes through a bend computer designed to reduce the number of restrictions as possible. The Eaton forces the air out into the Intercooler to cool the charge before it enters the CNC machined intake manifold. The intake features a custom design that provides maximum airflow.
The kit produces an impressive 605 horsepower (515 to the rear tires) at just 7 psi on an otherwise completely stock 2011 Mustang GT. The reason Sean Hyland Motorsports says they are able to achieve such impressive numbers with such a low amount of boost is because the kit is so efficient. According to Sean Hyland Motorsports, “Our philosophy is to produce a highly efficient intake system, providing maximum airflow without restrictions, and using an appropriately sized supercharger, without the higher parasitic losses of oversize superchargers”. One benefit of running such a low amount of boost is that the car will remain reliable, and because they believe in their product, they offer a standard 3 year warranty on the entire system, with an optional 5 year warranty available.Sea Hyland Motorsports - Bookshelf
