ABU DHABI - Jumaa Al Qubaisi, Deputy Director General of the National Library at the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH), stressed that the Authority’s book industry projects that participated within the activities of the Frankfurt Book Fair are aimed at bridging the prospects for global cooperation in order to strengthen the Emirati publishing and book industry movement with the latest developments.
"During the Fair, we announced new and varied initiatives that are linked to books and their industry and attract more international publishers to Abu Dhabi for the service of the UAE publishing movement in order to highlight Kalima project’s achievements and its translations and look at the latest and most important international publications to translate them to Arab readers," Qubaisi added.
ADACH delegation met with major international publishing houses in a bid to boost relationships to open new horizons for the book industry. The National Library, Qalam initiative to develop young Emirati talent, the Sheikh Zayed International Book Award (SZBA), Kalima translation project and Kitab, the organizer of the Abu Dhabi international Book Fair are taking part in ADACH stand at Frankfurt Book Fair. These leading projects have drawn a wide interest by both publishers and the public at the world’s largest book fair.
ADACH launched an initiative of UAE poetry translation at Frankfurt Book Fair, presenting six Emirati poets’ works to German readers in cooperation with major German publishing houses. The Authority also announced the “Islamic Arts” initiative which sheds light on Islamic arts and architecture.
For the third consecutive day, Kalima, which is supported by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, continues its participation at the 63rd edition of the Frankfurt International Book Fair.
