The story of the buzz, the pop and the crow at Madison and 18th
At approx 6:45 am today august 8th, a transformer atop a power pole exploded at the corner by the radio towers. i actually saw the expolsion and the shower of sparks. a few seconds later, black smoke belched from two (supposed) exhaust pipes and all was quiet, there was a no fire or smoke. an employee in the building stuck his head outside and i told him about the explosion. perhaps they're related?

99 percent of these homes have electrical systems equipped with circuit breakers, an important piece of infrastructure needed to support a 240V charge station. • 71 percent have space on their electrical service panel for additional breakers,
A crow landed on a riser and created a short circuit between two phases of the power lines. The breaker reset and service was restored. There was some minor damage to a switch, but no transformer was damaged.
Of the Festival in 2010, Misha Berson with The Seattle Times reported, "For anybody crafting a show aimed at Broadway (or Off Broadway, or the US regional theater circuit), getting it showcased in the annual Village Originals festival at Village

It's been a wet spring in the Northeastern United States. Arguably this is an understatement. We've had record breaking rains and ongoing flooding. Pumps spewing water out of waterlogged basements is a common site in my town just west of Boston. Our local fire department is busy pumping out basements too, and they only assist when water levels rise so high that they endanger circuit breakers or otherwise threaten homeowners with fire related hazards.
According to Denise Chow, LiveScience Contributor, in a posting on March 31st, 2010, "7.81 inches of rain fell in Providence, R.I, which set a new rainfall record for the month of March. Evacuations were in effect yesterday in parts of Warwick, R.I. In Cranston, R.I., the Pawtucket River rose to a new flood stage setting a new record of 14.98 feet on March 15."
Chow added the following record breaking tidbits:
• Providence, R.I., recorded 16.32 inches (41.5 cm) of rain for the month of March
• A record daily rainfall of 2.93 inches (7.4 cm) was measured at Logan International Airport in Boston
• At Central Park in New York, 10.68 inches (27.1 cm) of rain fell
• The wettest March for the state of New Jersey since records were first kept in 1895
The list above represents two very important things, incredibly impressive rainfall totals and unfortunately, incredibly brutal commutes for many of those employed with traditional brick and mortar firms. Of course, in my virtual office I was comfortable and ready to go at around 7:45am, with my Starbuck's Pike's Place coffee, and a high speed internet connection. The car was still parked in my garage (that means no gas, no oil and no adverse environmental impact) as I glanced occasionally out the window and remembered what it used to be like to sit in bumper to bumper traffic on Route 128. On rainy mornings like this (perhaps I should say months like this), I especially appreciate my virtual business model and virtual lifestyle. It was a tremendously productive, virtual day as we ran a successful web seminar for one client, posted a web site update for another client, downloaded lists, distributed web seminar reports, sent out multiple email campaigns and cold called many targeted prospective clients on behalf of our B2B clientele. In other words, it was business as usual for our virtual company. Virtual is powerful and virtual is efficient - but most of all - virtual offers a great commute!
