Community development meeting set todayA meeting of the Housing and Community Development Citizen Advisory Committee is scheduled for 7 p.m. today at Alhambra City Hall on 111 S. First St.
The agency will review the city's "Performance Report" as required by the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development. The report covers the previous fiscal year's activities and expenditures.
According to a staff report, the city "has been successful in meeting and in some cases exceeding its projected performance goals and objectives as defined in the Consolidated and Annual Action Plans."
The CAPER provides for measurable performance against stated performance objectives. Impacts of planned program performance have been exceeded in code enforcement, public services, first-time homebuyer, and housing rehabilitation.
Citizens Police Academy to begin Wednesday
The Alhambra Police Department will be hosting its very popular "Citizens Police Academy" starting Wednesday.
The program is for residents of at least 18 years of age that provides an inside look at the Alhambra Police Department and all facets of local law enforcement, official said in a statement.
The classes are held at the Alhambra Police Department, 211 South First Street, Alhambra.
During the Academy, students are introduced to police operations. Academy sessions include criminal and civil law, patrol procedures and crime scene investigation.
The sessions are taught by veteran law enforcement officers. Students are also given the chance to go on a "ride-along" with a patrol officer on regular duty.
